Un poêle pour une chaleur intimiste
A woodburner for a cozy warmness
Voici notre superbe poêle à bois ! Au début nous voulions absolument un vieux poêle en bois en fonte (bonjour le poids!) mais nous avons finalement craqué sur ce poêle en inox gstove 3kw beaucoup moins lourd et permettant de cuisiner dessus.
// Petite anecdote, nous l'avons trouvé alors que Léa engueulait Mel car il regardait une vidéo d'une heure sur un père et un fils construisant une cabane pendant qu'elle trimait à finir son diplôme quand on s'écria : Oh mais c'est quoi ce poêle, y a un lien ?! Comme quoi il faut prendre son temps pour trouver les bonnes choses //
Here is our magnificent wood burner! At first we absolutely wanted an old wooden cast iron stove (hello weight!) but we finally had a crush on this 3kw gstove stainless steel stove much less heavy and allowing to cook on it.
// A little anecdote, we found it while Lea was yelling at Mel because he was watching an hour-long video about a father and son building a cabin while she was working on finishing her degree when we shouted: Oh, what is this stove, is there a link?! It shows that you have to take your time to find the right things //

Wood burner's drawer
Le premier meuble réalisé par Mel pour Jack a été le meuble soutenant le poêle et servant de rangement pour le bois ainsi que de caisse de résonance pour le caisson de basse (article sur l'électricité à venir très prochainement!). Comme nous devions prendre un poêle beaucoup plus gros de base, notre seul regret a été de le surdimensionner, perdant un peu de place dans l'espace à vivre ainsi que de ne pas avoir acheté plus tôt notre super ponceuse... Mais cela lui donne son côté rustique, le mot d'ordre pour tout notre camion! Dès que l'on faisait quelque chose de pas droit ou un peu brut nous répétions "Ca fait rustique!", d'ailleurs nous avons longuement hésité à renommer le camion "Rustik"!
The first piece of furniture Mel made for Jack was the one supporting the stove and used as a storage for the wood and as a resonance box for the subwoofer (article on electricity coming very soon!). As we planned to take a much larger woodburner, our only regret was to oversize it, losing a little space in the living area, and not to have bought our super sander sooner.... But this gives its rustic look, the watchword for our entire van! As soon as we were doing something that was not straight or a little rough, we repeated "It looks rustic", and we hesitated for a long time to rename the van "Rustik"!

Frame and ventilation
Nous avons du réaliser un chassis pour soutenir le poêle et ainsi réaliser une ventilation entre le dessous du poêle, l'intérieur du meuble, l'espace à vivre et l'extérieur.
We had to make a frame to hold the woodburner and therefore to create an airflow between the bottom of the stove, the drawer's interior, the living space and the exterior of the van.
Parois

Après quelques recherches sur les parois anti-feu, nous avons préféré allier placo anti-feu et feuilles de cuivre (trouvées sur leboncoin) pour habiller les parois autour du poêle tout en étant safe. Nous avons jointé le placo avec du silicone réfractaire 1300°
After few researches about firewalls, we prefered to combine fireproof plasterboards and copper sheets (found on craigslist) to overlay the walls surrounding the wood burner while staying safe. We sealed the plasterboards with fireproof silicone 1300°C

Pour effectuer la sortie entre le tubage et l'extérieur, Mel a fait un trou de 15x15 cm (le tubage faisant 6cm de diamètre) en veillant à bien retirer l'isolation sur 25 cm autour de la sortie et en replaquant avec du placo anti-feu. Puis nous avons boulonné le pipeco fourni avec le kit du poêle. Nous avons sécurisé le tout en remettant du silicone spécial haute température et du silicone caravane pour l'étanchéité. Enfin nous avons mis une plaque de finition à l'intérieur (avec un plus gros diamètre pour éviter que le tubage la touche) et la cheminée à l'extérieur.
To make the exit between the pipe and the outside, Mel made a 15x15 cm hole (the pipe is 6cm in diameter), making sure to remove the insulation 25 cm around the exit and re-plating with fireproof plasterboards. Then we bolted the pipeco supplied with the stove kit. We have secured the whole thing by putting on special high temperature silicone and caravan silicone for waterproofing. Finally we put a finishing plate on the inside (with a larger diameter to prevent the pipe from touching it) and the chimney on the outside.

Nous nous sommes rendu compte en cours de route qu'un étendoir en cuivre nous permettrait de faire sécher plus de paires de chaussettes (et autres petit linge) et bien plus vite que sur les barres adjacentes au poêle. Mel en a donc fabriqué un très simplement avec 2 tubes de cuivre, un coude à 90° et des petites pattes soudées directement aux parois.
We realized on the road that a copper clothesline would allow us to dry more socks (or other small laundry) and way faster than on the two side bars of the wood burner. Mel made a very simple one with 2 copper tubes, one 90° bend and small tabs directly welded to the panels.
