Pai and its surroundings
Après notre visite express à Ayutthaya, nous avons filé dans le nord et plus particulièrement à Pai pour y rejoindre une bande de potes. Entre ceux que l'on connaissait de Paris, ceux qui s'étaient rencontré en Australie et ceux rencontrés en Thaïlande, on était une joyeuse bande de fanfarons !
En arrivant en début d'après-midi à Pai, nous sommes partis directement accompagner certains de nos amis pour le circuit habituel du nord de Pai à faire en scooter. La première étape fut aussi la dernière car Jackou n'a vraiment pas été fan des virages en épingle en grosse montée, et on a décidé que c'était plus raisonnable de laisser nos amis et retourner à Pai avant de nous retrouver à un festival à Chiang Rai.
Cela ne nous a pas empêché de profiter d'un magnifique lever de soleil au Cave Lodge. Emmenés en tuk-tuk au spot parfait, nous nous sommes fait servir un café bien chaud pour observer ce magnifique spectacle.
After our quick visit in Ayutthaya, we rushed north and more precisely in Pai to meet our friends. Between those we knew from Paris, those that met in Australia and those that met in Thailand, we were quite a large group of funky frenchies !
We arrived in Pai in the early afternoon but we left directly with some of our friends to go with them for the usual loop people do with scooters in the north of Pai. Our first stop was also our last because Jacky really didn't like the steep hairpin turns and we decided it would be more reasonable to leave our friends and go back to Pai before meeting again in a music festival in Chiang Rai.
This didn't stop us from enjoying a splendid sunrise in Cave Lodge. Brought to the perfect spot with a tuk-tuk, we got served a hot coffee to watch this incredible show.

Nous avons revu Jordy et Pierre (après les avoir rencontré en arrivant à Pai) au détour d'un restaurant et leur avons proposé de les prendre à l'arrière du camion pour les emmener avec nous au festival !
Après une première escale bien sympathique au bord de l'eau, nous sommes repartis le lendemain mais nous avons été bloqués lors d'un de ces fameux virages en épingle bien pentu... Impossible de monter ! Nous avons du faire demi-tour et repasser par Chiang Mai avant d'arriver à Chiang Rai pour la nuit. Un gros détour de 3h mais pas le choix. Nous avons ensuite passé 4 jours de festival merveilleux, retrouvant tous les français et nos amis.
Après le festival nous sommes restés une semaine dans un parc national avec un spot parfait alliant gratuité, rivière, source d'eau chaude, douches et toilettes !! Bref on en a bien profité ! Nous avons fait une jolie randonnée pour voir une cascade et nous avons finalement été invités à fêter le nouvel an chinois chez les locaux !
We saw Jordy et Pierre (after meeting them for the first time when we arrived in Pai) eating in a restaurant, sat down for a chat and then offered them to bring them to the festival in the back of the van !
After a nice first stop by the water, we continued to drive the next morning but we've been blocked on one of this crazy hairpin steep turns... We couldn't go up ! We had to turn around and go back through Chiang Mai before getting in Chiang Rai for the night. A hard 3h detour but we had no choice. We then spent 4 wonderful festival days with the crazy frenchies group.
After the festival we stayed one week in a national park with a perfect spot (free, with a river and hot springs, showers and toilets !!) We enjoyed it a lot ! We went for a nice hike to see a waterfall and ended up invited by the locals to celebrate chinese new year

Après un petit passage express à l'hôpital pour Mel à cause d'une allergie, nous avons rejoint nos amis pour une semaine de roadtrip. Que ce soit en van, scooter, onewheel et vélo, on était en roue libre !
Nous nous sommes d'abord arrêtés au village de Tha Ton pour admirer un lever de soleil magnifique dans un temple, puis nous sommes allés jusqu'à Mae Salong le jour du nouvel an chinois. Jacky avait encore un peu de mal à monter les côtes mais une fois sur place on s'est bien amusés : c'était la fête partout avec des pétards, feux d'artifice et concerts à gogo.
Puis pour finir nous sommes allés nous poser autour d'un lac en dessous de Chiang Rai pour y passer les quelques derniers jours ensemble. Nous avons passé des moments merveilleux avec les locaux et à explorer les environs en tandem, vélo et onewheel, prêtés gentiment par un local.
After a quick visit to the hospital for Mel because of an allergy, we met our friends for one week of roadtrip. With the van or with scooters, bikes and onewheels, we were in total free wheel !
We first stopped in Tha Ton village to admire a beautiful sunrise at a temple, then we went all the way up to Mae Salong for chinese new year. Jacky had again a bit of trouble to go up in the mountains but once we were there we had so much fun : there were firecrackers, fireworks and live music.
Finally, we settled down next to a lake in the south east of Chiang Rai to spend the last few days together. We spent wonderful days meeting the locals and exploring the surroundings with onewheels and bikes and tandem a friendly local lent us.

Lorsque nous étions à Ban Non Luang, un local nous a accosté gentiment pour nous proposer de nous doucher chez lui. En acceptant avec joie la proposition, nous étions loin d'imaginer à quel point il serait gentil avec nous : douche, noix de coco fraiches à foison, repas, cours de cuisine avec sa femme. Il nous a même emmené visiter un temple (je n'ai pas retrouvé le nom) et nous a laissé nous garer chez lui pour brancher le camion.
C'est dans ces moments là qu'on se dit qu'on vit dans un beau monde, et que certaines personnes devraient être l'exemple de tous !
When we were in Ban Non Luang, a local called out to us to offer us to have a shower at his place. Though we accepted his kind offer, we didn't imagine how generous he would be toward us : shower, unlimited fresh coconut, food, cooking classes with his wife. He even took us to see a temple nearby (forgot the name) and let us park in his garden to plug the van in.
For that moments we tell ourselves that we live in a beautiful world and that some people should be an exemple for everyone !
